A standing ovation... But not for me
That was a standing ovation you heard last Sunday, as "Weekend Wogan" rocked to a close. It was a spontaneous outburst of joyful enthusiasm for the finest display of vituoso musicianship we've heard on the show so far. Which is saying something, in view of the musical talent we've had on display over a few short weeks.

Counting Chickens
Too early for chicken-counting, but every Sunday, when the dust has settled on "Weekend Wogan", I think, "Well, we'll have a hard time topping that next week", and blow me down, we do!

Whitfield, Knight, Carrack and provender...
These are tough times at the BBC with good husbandry and belt-tightening the order of the day, so who's going to pay for a new roof for the Radio Theatre, since Beverley Knight blew it off last Sunday On "W.W."? The rafters were already ringing after Paul Carrack and the London Community Gospel Choir's mighty bellowing, but "Take Another Little Piece Of My Heart" from the country's most dynamic singer stopped the Regent Street traffic.

Welcome
I don't know how long "Weekend Wogan" can rely on the good nature of our musical maestro, Elio Pace. The poor soul is coming in for the kind of abuse the listeners usually reserve for me.

Something for the Weekend
Willie says: "I walked into a hardware store and some old guy in a black shirt and an orange apron asked me if I wanted decking. Luckily, I got the first punch in and sorted him out. We must all be on our guard..."

Revenge of the TOGS
The headline: "Chris Evans, Revenge of the Togs" is as true and believable as aliens in the corn, and Elvis at the bus-stop.

3 Down, 9 to go! Another "Weekend Wogan" bites the dust! Actually, as the perceptive listener will have readily grasped, and was certainly obvious to the audience in BBC's Radio Theatre, it damned nearly did bite the dust, as the gremlins arrived, reducing the delicate broadcasting equipment to a sqwaking mess, and the even more delicate BBC engineers to tears.
