You've got to eat!

It was Guiseppina's (Elio Pace's sister) chocolate chip cookies, or Jelly Babies that were on offer for the hungry masses at last Sunday's Weekend Wogan. I fed the band and singers, and threw the rest to the starving. It's to be hoped that no litigation will follow from any audience member with a black eye, contusions or missing teeth. They tell me that Health and Safety don't allow anything to be thrown to the audience at Pantos any more, in case parents sue if their little darlings are struck by a balloon or a marshmallow.... Richard Briers felt that his teeth mightn't be up to the cookies, but he took a jelly-baby for later... Graham Norton brought the underwear of the band into question, and told us that the unfortunate loser every week in the"Search for Dorothy" is not strapped on to that half-moon swinging over the stage. The poor girl is clinging on for dear life, as she sings. Where's Health and Safety, then? Red Hurley took the ferry from Dublin to join us, and made everybody's journey worthwhile with his magnificent voice. Then, in marked contrast, came brilliant Billy Ocean, singing and moving like a dream. And Elio's Girls sang solo for us... Best yet? I say that every week...

Norman Macintosh says:

It was certainly one of the best. We enjoyed it thoroughly. And now it’s almost the last show upon us in this run! What will we do for 5 weeks….. ah well, there’s the TOG Voyage to look forward to I suppose!

Tescotog says:

Another magnificent show – Elio is just terrific – how about a CD of all the “Aperitifs”? Sunday’s was thebest yet.

Togging Along says:

Are the Weekend Wogan shows coming to an end? Will there be any more? I was just adapting to a new routine and the different feel. I emailed Radio 2 to say how much I was enjoying the new show and got back an autoresponse which seemed to assume I was complaining. Maybe the BBC aren’t used to praise?

Edina Cloud says:

Norman’s right as usual.Thank goodness the Tog Voyage is in the 5 week break.Great timing. Then we can gear up for the second series when we get back.

Rosie Turner says:

Brilliant show again, Billy Ocean was fantastic and so were the backing singers, just brilliant. I was so disappointed that there wasn’t more of Elio Pace and the band on the highlights, they should do a video featuring all 3 of Elio’s songs every week too. We’ll miss you Terry on Sunday mornings, roll on June when you’ll be back on the air again.

wendylois says:

I agree with Rosie that all of Elio’s songs should be in the highlights, or in an extra video. I can’t wait for the programme to return in June, but bet everyone concerned with the production will enjoy the break. I hope every programme in the next runs will be on the red button!

How about this blast from the past? Terry and Elio’s first encounter in 1988:
