Jelly Babies are less painful

A cheery crowd rattled the rafters at the Radio Theatre last Sunday for Nell Bryden's goodtime music. She's a self-made gal, writes her own stuff, even books her own tours. Comes from a "serious" music background, but she went to the bad on hearing Janis Joplin. Good Job! The wonderful Mika also could have trod the operatic boards, with his phenomenal counter-tenor voice, but instead we had the joy of his extraordinary personality and brilliant performing skills on "Weekend Wogan". See them for yourself by tuning in to any BBC TV channel, anytime after 8am this week, pressing the red button, going to "Watch Wogan", and hey presto! There's Nell Bryden as well. Not forgetting the best live band in the country, Elio Pace and his Speedmen, with added Glamour Girls. We played the new record by Ringo and Paul, last of the Beatles, and Ringo turned up, looking fit and sparkly, with three diamond rings in one ear. He said he'd recorded his latest album in his bedroom, and any modern musician could do the same. No wonder they sold Abbey Road... It was jelly-babies rather than Easter eggs this week, a lot less painful for the audience when I threw them at them.....

Really enjoyed listening on Sunday, whilst pottering round in the sunshine, and would love to ‘listen again’ but I’ve just finished sweeping up after some of Nell’s high notes, then there was Mika and that ‘Ell of a pace’ guy – I’m having to put the best crystal back into storage! Keep it coming.

Another great show, Terry!

I wondered where this was. I am so glad I have now found you again Terry. I’ve been a TOG since there were cone mountains, poisoned dwarfs in Dallas and at age 17 when my Mum gave me a signed photo (of you) for my birthday. Oh those collars and ties! I’m now 47 and thank god for Sunday mornings. All the wonderful fun and music and thank you Lady Helen for letting you out! I do hope this continues for a good many years (if possible). I missed Wogan’s Web when They decided it didn’t work. Oh yes, They know better. I don’t think so but we ought to let them think they do I suppose.

Speaking of food, I’m just watching old Esther Blooming-tall’s Fairytale Feast. On returning from a foreign land having learned how to cook a boar the culinary cunjurer commented that he had to tone down the main course as some guests had been upset by the starter. Had he left them hanging around while he went on a trip or have the old continuity gremlins struck again?

I’m panicking about Sunday’s show. What will happen if the Radio Theatre is buried under tons of volcanic ash? It would be terrible way to go. Luckily we’re not expecting a pyroclastic flow…although I understand Boggy is receiving specialist treatment for a similar ailment. My advice to you STW is to keep your distance from the veteran newscaster and listen out for a low rumble…then run!

Fantastic show! Nell Bryden is the best live – went out and bought her CD after seeing her on the pilot – and I really warmed to Mika. Hearing the acts live adds a really special dimension. Keep up the good work!

Loved the show this week (25.04.10) but as you were issuing rock buns to everyone I hope the audience were issued with tin hats first! Brilliant music as always and lovely to hear Richard Briers and Graham Norton. Fantastic.

It was great to hear Manhatten Transfer again. Brought back memories of high class French waiters and waitresses cavorted and dancing around what looked like the cafe in ‘Allo ‘Allo on I think it was the Val Doonican show. You can’t beat 1970s coreography.
