Alive and Fabulous

"Debbie Reynolds Alive and Fabulous", that's what this extraordinary woman calls her one-woman show with which she's touring Britain's halls, and frankly, on the basis of what we saw and heard last Sunday on "Weekend Wogan", the Hollywood pocket dynamo is underselling herself. She admits to 78, but looks, acts and talks with the same energy, vivacity and wit as she showed when I last interviewed her on "Wogan", twenty something years ago. It's uncanny... she might just have walked off the set of "Singin'in the Rain". Okay, she didn't buck and wing as she did with Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor in that great movie, but she sang "Tammy" for us, and the old sparkle and smile were still there, good as new... Whadda woman!.... Not that we were lacking female vocal talent, we never are with the glamour and charm of Elio Pace's Swing Sisters, but the great voices of two of Britain's best singers, Mica Paris and Elkie Brooks were the icing on the Easter egg. Plenty of those around as well, the audience caught them in their teeth as I threw them from the stage... Please don't send me your dentist's bills....

Wonderful show, Sir Terry. Debbie was just terrific, so much so , that we are going to book tickets to see her in Cardiff. Elio and the Woganeers were great as per usual and Mica and Elkie have such unusual but stunning voices,it was a treat for all.

I have acquired a crash helmet for this week in the interests of “elf n’ safety” after dodging the flying mini eggs last Sunday. Kelly Sigh got one right on the forehead, but no damage. If they need a javelin thrower in the next Olympics I know where they can find one!!

Debonair says:

Johnny-Boy, I had the same problem because my server is AOL (America on Line) – and I’m in Cumbria. I had to fool it by connecting through Internet Explorer or something like that. It worked and now AoL sometines lets me in. Percy Vere.
