Weekend Wogan this Sunday!

Looking forward with ill-concealed delight to next Sunday, and seeing all my friends. That's what "Weekend Wogan" has become for me, a huge joyous works outing.

The cheery up-turned apple-cheeks of the studio audience as they eagerly await whatever tit-bits I throw to them. It's like feeding-time at the zoo... They chomp merrily away, drowning out my every word and the best musical efforts Elio Pace and his Krazy Gang can hurl at them.

So far only one used pair of false teeth have been found, abandoned in the jam of one of the BBC's Danish pastries. Mick Hucknall, Griff Rhys Jones and Katrina Leskanich will be straining every nerve and sinew to make themselves heard, but it's an uphill struggle.... It'll be particularly pleasing if we can hear Katrina, the last of whom many think of as a dying breed, a UK winner of the Eurovision Song Contest. I don't know how I missed it, but did they select this year's entry? I'd love to hear it.

You never know, 13 years on, it could be our turn again... If we could just swing it with the Russian Bloc...or the Balkans...Or the Baltic....

Let's hope Ireland make it to Oslo, they're the only ones who ever vote for us....

tim says:

Sir Terry a very good show today ,i met you over 20 years ago at the paris studios after a recording of the year in question panel game ,best wishes ,tim and family

Tescotog says:

Another terrific offering – Elio and the band just get better and better… and I had a great time singing along with Katrina. Two hours just fly by!!

wendylois says:

Loved the show. Great to have such brilliantly talented musicians in Elio Pace and his band – a dying breed! Looking forward to next week – I’ll be in the audience!!!

Millicent Grumble says:

Very enjoyable show today, was that number 6 already! Disappointed that Boggy never expanded upon his reference to the “fox hat” joke, it isn’t rude is it?

Edina Cloud says:

I hope I don’t get the blame for those “Senior Moment” mints. It was all Deb O’naire’s fault——and she was the one who delivered the Lake District goodies from her home town of Keswick.

Debonair says:

No probs Edina….thanks to your ‘inside knowledge’ the goodies made it to the front line (even if some of them were used and abused!! :-)) but all good fun …now then, where did I put my mints?

Gordon Bennett says:

Great Stuff Terry!

Already working on next Sunday`s gag, which unusually for me is to do with politics! Best wishes to all on the show.
Ingrid Hudson says:

Wonderful show on Sunday! Sir Terry, you are not just Ireland’s coolest man, but also Great Britain’s – and I say this even though I did not get any of the chocolates you threw into the audience on Sunday… Such a lovely mixture of live music, banter, talent, dance moves, joy, chocolate! More please.

Togmeister says:

I’ve been a model of restraint in my gentle lobbing of sweetmeats to the “WW” audience, refraining from hurling welsh cakes, puddings and a dressed crab, but when I’m rewarded in return by a tin of “Senior Moments” mints….All I’m saying is,watch out on National Pie Week….

Debonair says:

Please Sir……may I ask nicely……. if you feel the urge to ‘lob’ the mints towards the assembled masses you should take them out of the tin first.

Edina Cloud says:

I had considered bringing pies, but the anglepoise lamp which used to be in the studio at Western House doesn’t appear to have been transferred to the Radio Theatre.
Then there’s the Boggy problem——-what a mess should he decide to tread on a pie!! He was bad enough with the biscuit.

Ma Capp says:

enjoyed the show! best bits that bald fella with the ‘tache (fancy dragging him out of the audience like that – what a lucky break!) and also Elio Pace singing Neil Diamond – cracker!

Tigger says:

I have been a busy bee of late getting ready for Pesach (Passover) and alas missed last Sunday’s show. However thanks to ‘listen again’ and watching the video highlights I shall miss nothing – internet saves the day!

Titus Duckass says:

sound going in and out, cats whisker fading,Please send DAB radio so can carry on listening
