Hi Terry,

I’ve am sitting here enjoying this years Children In Need and as a practicing Community Development worker I would like to suggest that maybe in addition to asking everyone to contribute financially to all the good causes you could really use the opportunity to ask people to volunteer in all the varied settings…It is always so difficult to find volunteers and this is an absolutely brilliant opportunity to encourage people to become involved!!! So many wonderful places are advertised and I’m sure there are many people who like me would be pleased to help by giving their time…Please consider this seriously…

As you are the only celebrity accepting payment for appearing / presenting Children in Need, will you be donating your rather hefty payment to the charity or will you be keeping it for yourself??

Dave Harrison says:

My pub organised a car boot sale for Children In Need. We had a tremendous response to our advertising and we were really looking forward to raising a tidy sum, then along came Mr Jobsworth, James Peart, from Leeds City Council. We were told that we did not have a licence to operate a commercial market and that if we proceeded with the event we would face a fine of £2500. He also told us that he would be sending a council representative out on Sunday to check on us. Please accept our apologies for cancelling this event.

It would be highly appropriate if as many people as possible could let Leeds City Council know exactly what the public thinks of their actions. The email address is james.peart@leeds.gov.uk.

Terry says:

Terry,
