When "Weekend Wogan" returns on October the 3rd, it'll be with a blistering "Special" on behalf of "Children in Need" onstage at the legendary Palladium,London. The good Lord Webber, Andrew Lloyd of that ilk, has given us the theatre free gratis, in a wonderful gesture to the charity. You'll be hearing more about the show shortly on Radio 2.

Elio Pace and his Band of Brothers and Sisters have been such a sensation on "Weekend Wogan", and made such a big impression on Brian May when he appeared on the show a couple of weeks ago, that he asked if they'd join him on September the 11th for "Proms in the Park".

Back at the Old Stand again for the second spasm of "Weekend Wogan", standing room only and a crowd lightly sprinkled with perspiration (if we ever get a really warm Sunday, the BBC Radio Theatre's going to be like the Monkey House at the Zoo) but eagerly awaiting the myriad delights of rockin' Elio Pace and his Jazzers, the ageless wit and charms of Des O'Connor, the Hollywood pizazz of Jeff Goldblum and the musical beauty of Nerina Pallot. Boy, did they ever get their money's worth!

So glad so many of you enjoyed the first run of "Weekend Wogan", it's been great fun to do. We've had terrific guests, and the live music has been sensational.

Had a great time on Sunday on Radio 2 with the lively Glen Campbell, Justin Lee Collins (where there’s hair there’s comfort!) and Katie Melua.

It was Guiseppina's (Elio Pace's sister) chocolate chip cookies, or Jelly Babies that were on offer for the hungry masses at last Sunday's Weekend Wogan. I fed the band and singers, and threw the rest to the starving. It's to be hoped that no litigation will follow from any audience member with a black eye, contusions or missing teeth.

A cheery crowd rattled the rafters at the Radio Theatre last Sunday for Nell Bryden's goodtime music. She's a self-made gal, writes her own stuff, even books her own tours. Comes from a "serious" music background, but she went to the bad on hearing Janis Joplin. Good Job!

"Debbie Reynolds Alive and Fabulous", that's what this extraordinary woman calls her one-woman show with which she's touring Britain's halls, and frankly, on the basis of what we saw and heard last Sunday on "Weekend Wogan", the Hollywood pocket dynamo is underselling herself.

That was a standing ovation you heard last Sunday, as "Weekend Wogan" rocked to a close. It was a spontaneous outburst of joyful enthusiasm for the finest display of vituoso musicianship we've heard on the show so far. Which is saying something, in view of the musical talent we've had on display over a few short weeks.

Too early for chicken-counting, but every Sunday, when the dust has settled on "Weekend Wogan", I think, "Well, we'll have a hard time topping that next week", and blow me down, we do!
