So glad so many of you enjoyed the first run of "Weekend Wogan", it's been great fun to do. We've had terrific guests, and the live music has been sensational.
As the second spasm of "Weekend Wogan" noisily comes to a close, I look back on another 11 weeks of unadulterated pleasure, fun, laughter and great music. "Wee Wogan" has become the most popular weekend show on the radio, and I owe it all to the listeners, and a studio audience that lifts the roof and my spirits with their laughter and enthusiasm. But it's the live music that lifts the show out of the ordinary: We have a superb house band thanks to Elio Pace, his weekly "aperitif" sharpens not only the nation's taste-buds, but our musical tastes... It's been highlights all the way, but I won't easily forget the legendary Albert Lee's virtuoso guitar, nor Brian May's stunning playing. And no one who heard and saw it will forget Jeff Goldblum's ad lib jazz piano. Maybe you have your favourites, somebody you'd like us to invite back for a second shot? Let's have your suggestions...
In the meantime, I'll hope to see you all, well, 40,000 of you, at "Proms in the Park" in Hyde Park, come rain or shine, on the 11th of September. If not, listen in on Radio 2, it's always a night to remember....
